Today is Rosh Chodesh Sivan, the month of Shavuot, when we celebrate receiving the Torah. The primary spiritual practice for this month is Torah. This is the time to rededicate to learning Torah and to pray that Torah enters your heart, and the hearts of all your loved ones in just the way needed by each of us. Rabbi Isaiah Horowitz (d. 1630 Tzfat, Israel) wrote a beautiful prayer about Torah that you can read here. While it is great to say this prayer at any time, he recommends it particularly for Erev Rosh Chodesh Sivan. For more thoughts on receiving Torah in just they way each of us need it while also creating unity among the Jewish people – please see my blog about Shavuot.
